Tom Hinson, Lead Designer & Project Manager

Tom grew up in Cumbria, running in the Yorkshire Dales and exploring the Lake District, and has always felt a deep connection to landscape, plants and the natural world. During a former career as a diplomat, he developed a passion for working with people from all walks of life — understanding their visions and helping to achieve them.

Combining these passions, Tom trained as a garden designer in London, before returning to Cumbria to found Hinson Garden Design. He leads every project from initial concept through to completion, meaning clients have a single, consistent point of contact throughout the design process.

Where projects require it, Tom draws on a trusted network of landscape contractors, nurserymen and specialist tradespeople — bringing the right expertise to every job while maintaining the quality and personal attention we pride ourselves on.
